Next, I collected data based on geography to understand the trends in language use of Czechs from different parts of the country. I focused on Instagram, searched its posts based on location, and took note of the descriptions and comments associated with these posts. First, I examined Instagram posts located in Prague, the Czech capital, which is known to be much more cosmopolitan than the rest of the country. Then, I looked at the city of Karlovy Vary, which has a large Russian minority. Finally, I searched for posts taken in the cities of Hlučín, Frýdek-Místek, and Těšín. I decided to do so for two reasons: first, these towns have significant German, Polish, and Greek minorities, and second, they are located in the Moravian region which prides itself on its own distinct identity, culture, and dialect.
