I believe that the transformations of Czech I discussed previously have not been accepted homogeneously by all Czechs on social media. In particular, I believe that politics and geography play an important role in helping us understand why some users embrace these changes while others do not.
I think that many people care about belonging in the place and community they are from or in which they currently reside, as this is an important factor in the formation of their identities. Language is one of the tools they can use to "fit in" into a group or to differentiate themselves from another.
It is also quite natural to assume that people care about large-scale political developments that affect their everyday lives. To feel included, users of social media interact with politicians actively, and their usage of language makes a powerful statement regarding their beliefs and convictions.
Although there are naturally other things that people care about and value in their lives, I believe that from a purely social standpoint, being accepted in one’s community and participating in the broader political discourse are among the most important factors that determine one’s satisfaction with life and full social inclusion.
