It is the use of electronic means to torment another person by sending, posting or sharing negative, harmful, false or mean content.(Kowalski, 2008) further explained that cyberbullying is the electronic form of bullying that occurs when someone posts offensive language or images of another person on a website or through email, instant messaging, chat rooms, or cellphone texting.
Effects of cyberbullying
According to (Kaltiala-Heino, Rimpelä, Rantanen, & Rimpelä, 2000), students who struggle with mental health concerns do worse academically and sometimes even drop out of school. Students who are severely impacted by cyberbullying frequently commit suicide. It doesn't stop with dropouts.
As concerned ICT citizen about the impact it brings into learners digital society one can do the following to stop cyberbullying;
Run online campaign which will be teaching learners of digital devices to recognize and prevent cyberbullying, as well as how to respond if someone is cyberbullied. Run face to face campaign where learners will be taught about cyberbullying, showing them videos and pictures which will increase awareness and development of skills to cope with cyberbullying.
