The LHS Museum is now closed for the season. Thanks to everyone that visited! Our exhibits and digital catalog is available online year round. The museum will resume regular hours May 2026. We will continue to be here on Friday mornings, 9am-noon, when our crew of volunteers is busy working on the collection; we're always happy to take a break and show you around. We are also open by appointment, just call or email to set something up!
Please join the Lincolnville Historical Society for our next "Fridays at the Museum" Event, happening on Friday, October 24th at 7pm. Rosey Gerry will be interviewing two World War One reenactors, Nate Benner and Tucker Goodwin. They will be talking about the Doughboys of WWI, and how they lived and fared in France as part of the American Expeditionary Forces.
"Doughboys" was the popular nickname for United States soldiers, particularly those in the American Expeditionary Forces, during World War I. The origin of the term is unclear, with several theories attributing it to the soldiers' appearance or the clay used to clean their uniforms.
The LHS is located at 33 Beach Road in Lincolnville. Doors will open at 6:30pm and the museum will be open upstairs if you would like to look around prior to the talk. The event is free, but donations are always gratefully accepted. Hope to see you there!
