2025 6th Grade Concert is Oct. 8 (outdoors)
Because this concert is outdoors, we have a rain date of 10/15 scheduled
both 10/9 and 10/16 are at 7:00 p.m.
6th Grade Skills:
6th graders will continue to review all known musical elements and in addition will work on dotted sixteenth note combinations, music in 6/8 meter and familiarizing them with music in a minor key.
Street Musician Project:
The students will use their accumulated skills over the years in the music room to participate in a project called "Street Musician" where they work within a "band" on music of their choice ultimately resulting in performing our school song, making a cover of a song, and creating a song. These Street Musicians will name their band, design and draw a logo for their bass drum and will perform for other members of our school and any parents or family that can attend. Performances are in May during their regularly scheduled music class. More details regarding this performance are emailed to parents as we get closer and decide when those performances will take place.
Chorus
6th graders have the opportunity to join the Lincoln Chorus again this year. Rehearsals are during part of recess every day ?. There is no audition to be in this ensemble. Please check in the pancakes for a Chorus tab to receive more information.
Encourage your child to join the Lincoln Chorus. Especially encourage the boys. I think our society gives boys the subliminal message that only girls can sing. Of course that's not true. Encourage them...even expect it of them. I'd really like to get more boys singing in our choir. I sometimes get the response that they don't want to miss their recess, but girls don't want to miss it either. They have to miss a recess once a six day cycle but it's a fun and worthwhile endeavor! They won't have a recess when they attend Jr. High so this would be a good transition for them. Besides, all 5/6th graders will be at the choir's first performance on November 9. They might as well sing with the Lincoln Chorus when that group is featured!
