In this class, students will learn how to create, present, and evaluate speeches. Students will learn the importance of making eye contact with the audience, speaking "with" the audience rather than "at" the audience, and how to deliver a speech without reading. Strategies will be given to assist with overcoming nervousness, speaking more naturally, and finding the right volume.
Students will give a total of eight prepared speeches, plus several impromptu speeches. Students will learn to give various types of speeches, including informative, persuasive, humorous, and needs and solutions speeches. Students will learn to give a speech using PowerPoint and other visual aids.
Classes will consist of lectures, learning activities, and speech giving.
Homework will include reading the textbook and answering questions on the reading, researching in preparation for a speech, composing and practicing a speech, and studying for periodic quizzes.
This class counts as a Communication credit.
8:30 a.m. - 9:50 a.m.
$160 per semester (This is $10 per week.)
Tuition is due on the first week of class unless families choose to use the payment plan.

This book will be provided by the instructor in pdf fomat. Students must bring a flash drive to class on the first week of class for the instructor to load the file.
