In this class, students will read four different literary works each semester. (See "Books" below for the complete book list.) The reading (about 50 pages per week) is completed outside of class as homework. Students are required to answer questions about the reading or, in some cases, write summaries of the reading.
Class time is spent discussing the works, its themes and literary devices, and the lessons to be learned from the book. Participation in class discussion is required.
Because students read and comprehend at differing speeds, the amount of time spent on homework will vary greatly between students. In general, students should plan to spend about three to four hours per week on homework.
11:10 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
$160 per semester (this is $10 per week)
Tuition is due on the first day of class unless families are using the payment plan.
Students are required to have a copy of each of the books by the designated date. These books may be purchased, borrowed, or checked out from the library. Students may also listen to audio versions of the books, but completing the questions may be slightly more difficult than when reading the book.
In general, siblings may share a book as long as the homework schedule can be worked out at home.
The instructor has multiple copies of the books marked with an asterisk. If you wish to borrow a book, please let her know as soon as possible as these are reserved on a first-requested-first-served basis.
