In this course, students will learn how to write a variety of essays, using the five-paragraph essay format. Attention will be given to each part of the writing process, from brainstorming through finished products.
This class is for students at all levels of writing. I believe in taking students where they are and helping them move forward in their writing ability. I am interested in providing information/instruction that will help students become more confident intheir writing knowledge, as well as providing personal comments/suggestions about their writing. Some class periods are filled with instruction, examples, and practice. Other weeks are filled with brief meetins with students about the writing they are working on. During these meetings, I make suggestions, answer questions, and give direction.
The course does include some grammar instruction, but this class does not constitute a full grammar curriculum. Students who still need significant grammar instruction will want to add an additional resource or curriculum for individual study.
Students are expected to type their final draft of each writing assignment, following the MLA format (taught in class).
This class counts as 1 English credit.
