EDU 642
Creating Instructional Media - Week 2
This week I chose to create the following:
This pamphlet was created directly in Canva for EDU with all imagery licences through Canva. Instead of a link (since this is intended to be a physical product) I included a QR code for students to interact with and access my YouTube channel.
And I incorporated a number of design elements, including:
Repetition (with the included imagery)
Alignment (with the imagery and text elements)
Contrast (with font types)
Repetition
Proximity (with spacing of elements)

Since my intention with this was to create something that students can learn more about the course on the first day, I felt I “had to” include a fair amount of text to inform the students, but I felt it was a little text heavy. This is something I tried to limit, but struggled with.
I decided to use Google Slides for this task to create a step-by-step guide for my students to create an animated cartoon of themselves in Adobe’s Character Animator app. The design principles I focussed on mostly in this were Contrast, Symmetry, Repetition, and Alignment. I also added visuals with the use of gifs converted from edited screen recordings videos, using the site https://cloudconvert.com/ for the conversions from video to gif.
The slides template used is from slidescarnival.com and is copyright free (once transformed into something new).
I chose to make this infographic in Canva for EDU again. All imagery were sourced directly in Canva. I incorporated a variety of design elements, with Symmetry the one I focussed on most, as well as trying to use complementary colours.
