Here, shadow means the bad times of life and light means the good times of life. We all know, shadow and light co-exist in the nature and then they make the nature complete. Shadow is there when light exists in the start, but a much brighter light is always there after that shadow, which overtakes those bad time. One who grows in shadow knows the significance of light, but at the same time, one who grows in light should respect people who have been through shadow. Shadow is pain, light is gain; shadow tries to follow and not leave one, light gives correct path to walk on and leave all the shadows behind.
Emotions can be described beautifully through metaphors, just like how a poet portrays emotions in their poem. Metaphors like clouds, rivers, tides tell us about the height, depth, magnitude and nature of emotions. Anger comes like a wave, but grief comes like a tide, sadness comes like clouds but happiness flows like a river in the body. The metaphoric representation of emotions helps to describe them better and understand their nature overall.
