I never thought I'd find lake mud interesting, but...
There's a rich history in the mud.
Climate changes.
Life forms change.
Storms rage and rivers flood.
Lakes catch a lot of this!
There's more complexity in the sediment that fits on the tip of a tooth pick than I imagined.
