What is the Leicester City Mayor's annual salary? And what was it back in, let's say, 2012? I suppose he is not just a community support volunteer. Ha!

Updated on 31/5/25 Leicestershire has ten Members of the UK Parliament. It would be interesting to know the salary and expenses histories of these county related MPs.
It seems to me that all ten should be asked to resign, on account of incompetence and/or of politically motivated evasion. Or more clearly, simply taking lots of public money and not working and communicating in a way which justifies that. Very sad? - no. Shocking? - yes.

William Blake wrote in Milton: [ Based on old style text. ]
"If you account it Wisdom when you are angry to be silent,
and Not to shew it: I do not account that Wisdom but Folly.
Every Mans Wisdom is peculiar to his own Individuality
O Satan my youngest born, art thou not Prince of the Starry Hosts
And of the Wheels of Heaven, to turn the Mills day & night?
Art thou not Newtons Pantocrator weaving the Woof of Locke
To Mortals thy Mills seem every thing & the Harrow of Shaddai
A scheme of Human conduct invisible & incomprehensible
Get to thy Labours at the Mills & leave me to my wrath.
Satan was going to reply, but Los roll'd his loud thunders.
Anger me not! thou canst not drive the Harrow in pitys paths.
Thy Work is Eternal Death, with Mills & Ovens & Cauldrons.
Trouble me no more. thou canst not have Eternal Life."

Some wisdom had arrived a few years ago, when UK voters chose to break away from demonic EU influence. With much help from a Boris and a Nigel. As to the claimed disaster which has followed Brexit, it is mostly a cloud of lies and ignorance, generated by media and by dishonest politicians.
From the Koran. About an unavoidable Day of Judgement. "On this day, we will seal their mouths, and their hands will speak to us, and their feet will testify to everything they had done." [ Ya-Sin ] "On the day when their tongues, and their hands, and their feet will testify against them regarding what they used to do." [ An-Nur ] "...their ears and their eyes and their skins will testify against them for what they used to do." [ Fussilat ]

Plus, I am working hard to cancel the day of judgement. Possible but not too easy. Hands started speaking early in the 1970s. And for me, early in the 1980s. As to Leicester, most hands are currently attached to Smartphones, Vapes and Smoothies. I call that SAVA SAGA: Smartphone addiction, Vape addiction, sweet drinks addiction and gossip addiction.
That may all change... And also the quiet-voiced Hare Krishna lady may soon have her amplification back, for singing and other worship near to the Clock Tower. Muslims may bring their tables back for displaying their Korans. Perhaps for offering hot drinks.
Rubbish bins might be restored to East Gates. Surely they were foolishly removed, without public consultation. The use of large and noisy sweeping vehicles there should be reduced and ideally stopped. Some Leicester issues remind me somehow of the film Total Recall, with Arnold Schwarzenegger.
The nearby buildings, previously used by M&S, might be reopened, partly to act as a dry goods Indoor Market and partly as a hub for culture, creativity, education, health and wellbeing, science, spirituality, international communication, exhibitions and conferences, hotel and hostel, etc. I have some possible names for such a hub development: One is Harry and Meghan Park.
Updated on 6/6/25, to this Home archive copy only. Published religious predictions and guidance are at best a guide. They might be 100% false and coming from an ignorant or confused person. So, many sources are potentially dangerous.
For example, Christianity was invented by a Mr Paul or Saul, who never met Jesus Christ and was not one of 12 main disciples. And the resulting political hierarchy with vicars/priests/deacons, bishops, archbishops and even popes is not based on the teachings of Christ. So-called religious guidance might also be deliberately written or edited by a naughty person, in order to mislead or to control.
How to know if something written was really the word of God? Only if God tells it to you or somehow confirms that to you! And of course, it might still be just some subtle psychology or programming, told in order to point you in a different direction! So then, not suitable for using as instructions for other people. Being rational, or let's say scientific, and looking at this mysterious world, the future is not really fixed and is certainly not clear or transparent.
God is surely hiding for some purpose and the life which we observe or experience exists for some quite unclear purpose. I believe God is just playing a game of hide-and-seek with himself. Noone and nothing else exists. He can do whatever he wants and, overall, he is probably enjoying the game. If somebody suffers, well - whose consciousness actually feels that pain or distress?

Please see the PSPO reference on this page and there are some related but creative CPPO references elsewhere. The quoted text here, with my opinions, are verbatim from a recent email:
"...and that I am having my human rights oppressed and being unlawfully threatened with further penalties... ...A police officer warned me that I could receive more than one fine. He did not say explicitly but it was clear he meant that I could get another penalty any day that I failed to respect the order."
He was polite and I intended no criticism of Police actions. The officer told me that he/they would not take away my A-board and he did not tell me to close it or to remove it and so, de facto, he allowed me to continue my breaching of the PSPO, if in fact that was what I had already done!
Three emails were sent to Leicester Community Advice and Law Centre and a reply came back. This externally linked page mentions Sir Peter Soulsby and the Rt Hon. the Baroness Hale of Richmond DBE, both having spoken last year at one of the centre's events.

The Leicester City Council could be closed down but with a lower priority than a County Council closure, which has been mentioned elsewhere. See the key solution link below.
Leicester City control would be split up and the approximately 370,000 residents reallocated, perhaps many to Hinckley Borough, to Charnwood Borough, to Harborough District and to Blaby District. The boundaries between Hinckley and Blaby and Charnwood might be adjusted slightly but more for a convenience of presentation that of any strategic necessity.
As to the future of Oadby and Wigston Borough. It has a small population of around 60,000 and the benefits derived from altering its status would probably not be large. It might be combined with Harborough District or with Blaby District. It could surely remain unaltered for a considerable time.
I suggest that no urgency be considered about deciding the future for Oadby and Wigston but some presentation is needed of its current role and its funding, its spending and its control processes, probably all rather simple to discover and describe. The residents should be consulted in some depth as to their feelings or wishes but not as any sort of binding referendum. And also to address any need for the residents' own information/education.
Melton Borough is small and also needs only a little attention. They should surely be considering a possible reorganisation, to join with Rutland County but for that combined area to be part of Leicestershire.
That would result in a simplification of ten major councils in Rutland and Leicestershire becoming just seven councils but all with some long established local management and also strong and established links to Parish and Town Councils.
11/5/25
Updated on 17/6/25, to this Home archive copy only. Oadby and Wigston council's area might be expanded to take responsibility for some people currently living in the city council's area. One city resident told me that he is near to Charnwood and would rather be under their control than under that of the city.
Elsewhere on this website, I have strongly criticised the Leicestershire County Council and suggested that all of its councillors be replaced. I have suggested that people might not vote in May or alternatively they might make some form of protest vote.
My own protest vote will be to support a candidate from the Reform UK Party. How to explain that? I find them indescribably untrustworthy and that is probably a good and a sufficient summary explanation! But not much better are the Liberal Democrats and the Greens. So a protest vote for one of these is also quite a reasonable idea.
Perhaps, on 2nd May, I will indicate the proper solution to Leicestershire's organisation/devolution dramas. I have already written that there is a good solution but I did not publish the details.
The councillors in 10 fairly large councils, including Rutland County, and I suspect also 11 MPs and the BBC and the Leicester Mercury, are all de facto asleep. Nobody in charge at both Local and National levels is awake, whatever 'in charge' means currently!

Updated on 30/5/25. The new council seems to be no better than the previous one. My summary is that, as far as I have seen, they haven't a clue and they are as irrelevant and evasive as before. Some previous members were elected again.

I have just highlighted the recommended solution for Leicestershire on a different page here. But probably you will not find it.
Updated on 9/5/25. The key solution is still there, where it was added some weeks ago, to a copy of the website's Home page. However, some politics is still the top priority for protecting the future of people in Leicestershire.
And a second proposal may be added above here soon, related to the future of the City Council.
Some of you will be aware of a clumsily drafted PSPO, with associated threats of fines, apparently introduced early in April. This reflects an arguably disfunctional style and/or inappropriate goals and clearly exceeds the legal rights of the council.
I feel obliged to describe what I have seen as no more than a Peter Soulsby Preservation Order. Which, de facto, I wholely reject. He should resign from his role as Mayor.
Updated on 11/5/25. Another classic performance or two. I will move these links into the Creative section. Shortish external clips of Christopher Reeve as Superman and Superman "Who's got you?"
Updated on 28/5/25. A recent unanimous ruling by five Supreme Court Judges in London indicates clearly that Leicester's publicised PSPO is defective and in parts is clearly unlawful.
Updated on 30/5/25. Three or four Judges there might have stood up, to sing in harmony:

We shall achieve in time -

A clumsily and abusively worded penalty warning notice from Leicester City Council was visible yesterday in High Cross shopping centre. Reported to Paul, acting then as junior centre management on 28th May. There were also two copies of the notice facing into East Gates. Positioned close to pavement level, as far as I recall. On McDonald's front windows. Paul explained that they, i.e. High Cross, have no responsibility associated with those windows outside. McDonald's UK probably will not receive civil challeges requesting compensation in court, for distress caused to 'street people', whatever that means, and from others including this writer. More likely is that the East Gates McD Franchise holder will, at least, be criticised. From a legal perspective, this abuse of windows issue is surely not De Minimis. However, overall, the recent unanimous Supreme Court ruling about Recreation is highly relevant.
I will not shop in High Cross, if such folly continues there, even for buying some instant Chicory in Holland and Barrett. My supply has run out but I will not spend one penny in this evasive and privately owned business area, where I understood that senior managers were too busy to meet me...
Boycott... This is politics, bad behaviour and not cricket!

Updated on 3/6/25 The PSPO is still haunting the city centre! Yesterday afternoon a crowd was enjoying a singing visitor from Birmingham, at the Clock Tower. He stopped his performance after being threatened with a large file by council officers. They said his nails were too long and were, therefore, "unauthorised structures".
Oh, er... maybe I got it wrong. But the rules are quite weird and unlawful. More likely is that they warned him of a probable £100 fine if he didn't stop using amplification.
But this is the UK and council officers have had legal powers to turn down or request reduced levels of amplification for decades. But there is no legal basis to justify a PSPO blanket ban, requiring zero amplification from musicians or singers or people saying prayers. The April 2nd dated order, which I was lent a copy of, seemed clearly unlawful. In response to Anti-Social Behaviour legislation from 2014, a PSPO's content needs to be unambiguous, appropriate and proportionate.
I say, as an intelligent adult, that it failed on all of those three long principles and that it is too bad that the City Council did not take competent legal advice and has foolishly been abusing human rights for a long time, including my own. At the County Court building in Wellington Street I have been told where to find details of the process involved to submit a Civil Claim against Leicester City Council.
I wonder who signed the order! I really doubt that it was a District Judge from the Magistrates Court. I could not read the signature but at least it was not Aunt Mabel.
