Do You Remember - Fire Drills?
Tommy Towery
LHS '64
The other morning while Sue and I were doing our moring walks on the track at our church the fire alarm went off. There is a pre-school held in the church, so I supposed it was for their benefit. Still, the flashback came back to the fire drills when I was going to school in Huntsville. We all got in line and were marched outside until we were cleared back to class.
I can't remember if there were any fire alarm boxes in our halls or not. If so, I certainly do not remember where they were located or what they looked like.
This text today is going to be short, because I am asking some of you to comment on your own memories of school fire drills. Do you recall any alarm boxes being present in the halls, and if so, where were they? Does anything pop into your head when you think back about fire drills? Please share your comments.

"Ring of Fire"
Johnny Cash
1963
"Ring of Fire" is a song written by the American singer-songwriters June Carter and Merle Kilgore. It was originally recorded as "(Love's) Ring of Fire" by June's sister, Anita Carter, on her 1962 album Folk Songs Old and New. It was popularized by Carter's future husband, the country singer Johnny Cash, after it appeared on his 1963 compilation album Ring of Fire: The Best of Johnny Cash.
When the song failed to become a major hit for Anita, Cash recorded it his own way, adding the mariachi-style horns from his dream. This sound was later used in the song "It Ain't Me Babe", which was recorded around the same time.
Cash's version became one of his biggest hits, staying at No. 1 on the country chart for seven weeks. It was certified gold by the RIAA on January 21, 2010, and by September of that year had amassed over 1.2 million paid downloads. It was named the fourth-greatest country song by Country Music Television, while Rolling Stone called it the greatest country song and the 87th-greatest song of all time. In 1999, Cash's version was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.

Logan’s Roadhouse

11:00 am
I decided to send out information about our next LLB a bit early to give everyone ample time to put it on your calendars. Hopefully you can set aside that date to spend at least the lunch hour together.
Thanks to the efforts of Judy Fedrowisch Kincaid and Ken Martz, we now have a reservation at Logan’s Roadhouse, one of our favorite restaurants for this group.
As we begin our sixteenth year of LLB, it has become apparent to most of us just how quickly the years are passing and most painfully as we lose our dear old friends and classmates. With that being said, I urge you all to make every effort to come, have a good lunch, and enjoy a little time with dear old friends. Hope to see you in April.

I'm hoping someone help me out this week and will comment on the Fire Drills.
