Introducing the AI Music Generator
Tommy Towery
LHS '64
This week I am introducing a new feature which I found on the internet. This is an Artificial Intelligence application designed to add music to text which is inputted into it. Basically I found that I just give it some key words and it adds both the music and the vocal tracks to make up a song based on the data you give it. Below is the information found on the application's web site. Not only does it create the music, it also gives you the copywrite ownership of the creation.
What is AI Music Generator?
AI Music Generator is an advanced AI platform specializing in music generation and text-to-music conversion. I decided to see if it could make a song about Bradley Cafeteria which we covered last week. Once I gave it the key points I wanted in the song I let it generate it. I then was able to edit the original offering, changing some of the words with other phrases which fit better, but it kept the original music and I regenerated it. It is not a prize winning tune, but I am still learning the tricks. Still, I thought you might find it interesting to see what it might do. In future weeks I will be sharing some more tunes with you. I don't think Jim McBride has to worry about the competition from this app.
“Bradley Nights”
Our Harmones buzzing on a hot summer night
Bradley's Cafeteria floors are rocking just right
The Continentals music fills the night air
Hit the floor now don’t be a square
Lots of dancers, which one do you pick
If you want a dance partner you better ask quick
The musics loud it rings in your ears
The memories will last through the years
The Dance floor’s crowded as the saxaphone screams
The Continentals playing to teenage dreams
Saturday night love is on parade
Get the most fun from the dollar you paid
Doing The dog , the dirty way
"Wipe Out" has the drums that Jerry plays
"Sleep walk" needs steps in a tight embrace
"Oh Charlena" is more to our taste
Penny loafers shuffle as hearts collide
Laughter spilling no place to hide
Girls and guys lost in the trance
Under dim lights we take a chance
Dance floor’s crowded and the saxaphone screams
The Continentals playing teenage dreams
Saturday night love on parade
The memories we made will never fade

"Charlena"
"Charlena" is a lively and heartfelt doo-wop tune that’s seen several renditions over the years, each with its own flair. Here's a breakdown of its most notable versions and history:
The Sevilles' Original (1961)
• Release: Late 1960 or early 1961
• Chart Performance: Peaked at #84 on the Billboard Top 100
• Style: Classic doo-wop with emotional vocals and catchy harmonies
• Lyrics Theme: A plea to Charlena, a girl with “big brown eyes” and “long brown hair,” asking her not to go away and affirming deep affection
• Legacy: Became a regional hit in Los Angeles and was later covered by other artists
Richie Knight and the Mid-Knights (1963)
• Chart Performance: Reached #1 in Canada
• Style: A more upbeat, garage-rock interpretation
• Significance: One of the earliest Canadian rock hits to top national chart
Los Lobos Version (1987)
• Album: La Bamba (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)
• Vocals: Cesar Rosas
• Writers: Herman B. Chaney and Manuel G. Chanez
• Style: A rock-infused take with a Chicano rock vibe, fitting the La Bamba soundtrack’s nostalgic tone
One thing led to another while I was working on this issue. Some of the text came from the Artificial Intelligence engine of Microsoft's Co-Pilot. The app seems magical. I ask it for something and almost immediately my screen is full with its answer.
I always think that something I print will result in some comments from you readers, but usually it doesn't. I'm kinda flying in the dark, since I get few comments on the context each week. I continue to strive to offer you items of interest, and hope they are interesting to you as well. I know not everyone can relate to every issue, but hope the majority of you readers can. As I continue to say, everyone is welcomed and encouraged to share your own memories you find interesting.
