Lee Lunch Bunch News
Carolyn Burgess Featheringill
LHS ‘65
The Lee Lunch Bunch convened at Logan’s Roadhouse on April 23rd, a beautiful, summer-like day. The intrepid organizers estimated that we had 49 alums and spouses in attendance, but I think I saw a 50th come in at the last minute.
It’s always a joy to renew acquaintance with spouses of our members and visit with everybody’s favorite English teacher and LLB regular, Sue Faulkner. As we mark 60th reunion years, it was a special treat to have Greg Dixon, our ‘65 class president, join us from the Washington, D. C. area.
Talk ranged from grandchildren’s college decisions to current events to reminisces of our school days - sometimes all in the same conversation. It turns out that some 61 years after Beth McNabb Weinbaum and I walked across the stage to receive our diplomas, her granddaughter and my grandson will be doing the same together this spring at Mountain Brook High School in Birmingham.
Sincerest thanks once again go to Patsy Hughes Oldroyd, Judy Fedrowisch Kincaid and Ken Martz for their amazing organization and to Tommy Towery for publicizing the event. Any gathering of this many people, especially one that’s so much fun, doesn’t just happen by accident!
As always, the day began with laughter, handshakes and hugs and ended the same way with promises to “keep in touch.” That’s just how it is with the Fami-Lee!

"Get Together"
The Youngbloods
1967
(Editor's Note: The Lee Lunch Bunch was a great place to Get Together!)
In 1967, when the track "Get Together", a paean to universal brotherhood, first appeared, it did not sell well, reaching only number 62 on the chart. But two years later – after Dan Ingram had recorded a brotherhood promotion for WABC-AM in which the song was used as a bed for the promotion, and after the National Council of Christians and Jews subsequently used the song in television and radio commercials – the track was re-released and cracked the Top 5. This disc sold over one million copies and received a gold record, awarded by the RIAA, on October 7, 1969.
Sorry to have missed the LLB, but I had a doctor's appointment that was made months ago and was not able to change it. Maybe next time.
