Wonderblocks (formerly Thinkingblocks) is an animated series created by Blue-Zoo Productions and broadcast by CBeebies. The show educates children on coding, problem solving, and animals. This is the fourth and latest Learningblocks show.
Wonderblocks is a new series from the creators of Numberblocks, Alphablocks and Colourblocks all about problem solving.
Wonderblocks helps little learners develop important problem-solving skills as they explore exciting places alongside their new friends, Go and Stop.
Together with the helpful 'Do Blocks,' they'll solve different problems for their animal friends across the world. Whether it's helping Cow find her moo with Do Block Moo or assisting Secret Agent Chicken to crack the hen house code with Do Block Cluck, every episode is packed with excitement and learning for your little ones.
This show's leading duo, excitable Go and methodical Stop, showcase the perfect balance of action and thought. They will have your little ones giggling as well as showing core skills like problem solving, planning, pattern recognition and sequencing. Whilst exploring the values of teamwork, friendship, curiosity, and a love of learning, perfect for building coders and inquisitive minds everywhere.
Tom Box had the idea of this show back in 1985 but was never intended to be a Blocks series, obviously. He played with a BBC Micro that educated you code brought by his father, and tinkering with the code “set off a lightbulb moment” in his head!
Moving on more than 30 years in 2019, Tom talked to Joe Elliot about making a coding version of Numberblocks and they both put their heads together to know how things worked. The show was pitched back in March 2020 before the world “shut down” due to COVID-19. The people at CBeebies were intrigued to how coding to pre-schoolers worked.
Over the next few years, Emma Goto shaped the computational thinking learning outcomes coming EFYS/KS1, and Andrew Barnett Jones and Ciaran Murtagh led the writing crew turning complex stuff (abstraction, algorithms, decomposition, and more!) into joyful episodes and song lyrics. Simon Taylor's directing wizardry brought everything together in the most perfect way, gorgeously designed by Jovan with musical ear-worms by Ben Lee-Delisle, together constructing a world where everything beautifully clicks, with the production managed by Zoe Kerswell and Chiara Cannata at Blue Zoo and Divya Sachdeva/Stephen Cannon at Alphablocks Limited.
I wonder...
What can we do today?
I wonder...
What might get in the way?
If we stop for a minute to think it through,
We can give it a go, we'll know what to do!
We can make it happen with the Wonderblocks!

The following paragraphs are excerpts from the BBC article "Home grown talent, animations and culturally relevant co-productions lead the way as BBC Children's announce new commissions".
Numberblocks and friends will be returning as part of a four year output plan for the Blocks universe, following BBC Children’s and Education investment in multiple series in the Blocks franchise. Produced by Alphablocks Ltd and Blue Zoo animation studios, the order will include a second series of Colourblocks, further series of both Numberblocks and Alphablocks, as well as brand new title Thinkingblocks which introduces coding to a preschool audience.
The agreement will deliver new episodes of flagship Blocks brand programming over a five-year period, extending the presence of Alphablocks, Numberblocks and bringing a brand new Blocks series to market.
