Alphablocks are twenty-six main protagonists from the show of the same name. They are coloured blocks, with a glass block on top and a letter inside the top.
Alphablocks have cuboid(ish) shapes with two eyes, a nose (except O), a mouth, arms with mitten-shaped hands, and legs. They also have a presumably glass cap with their letter in it.
Each of the Alphablocks are uniquely designed. Most of them are based on their basic speech sound. For example, H's sound, /h/, sounds like panting when repeated fast, which is a likely inspiration for her running design. P's sound /p/ sounds like popping, hinting towards her popping powers. Other Alphablocks' designs are a pun on their names. The name of J sounds like "jay", inspiring her jay-like personality. T likes tea because his name is a homophone for "tea". Other Alphablocks' designs are more of wild cards and are inspired from something else, like X.
Alphablocks in a common group have similar attributes. For example, all the vowels have stripes.
The Alphablocks are twenty-six living letters who discover that when they hold hands and make a word, it comes magically to life. In a world that runs on phonics, each Alphablock's personality revolves around the unique and highly memorable way they make their letter sound.
Food is commonly seen, but it mostly appears to be vegetarian. We know the Alphablocks are not vegan because they are occasionally seen drinking milk. They also love pastries and candies, possibly suggesting a species-wide sweet tooth. M can and will eat just about anything he can get his “perma-mittens” on.
The Alphablocks in general have lots of powers and abilities. Here is a list of them.
When Alphablocks hold hands, they can spell words and make things based on the spelt word happen. What usually specifically happens depends on the type of speech of the word.
Alphablocks are normally drawn without any fingers (other than thumbs), but sometimes they grow an index finger.
When Alphablocks spell words, the said word will come to life. (E.g. when they spell an object or animal, they will appear, while if they spell a verb, the Alphablocks will perform said verb.) If an Alphablock spells a nonsense word (like "Tra", "Godop", or even gibberish), then it fails to spell the word.
Alphablocks are capable of performing mitosis, by splitting into two identical copies of themselves; They do this to spell words that have more than one of the same letter ('picnic' for example). Two or more of the same Alphablock are also capable of merging back into one, such as the two digraph EE's and one other E at the end of Bee merging back into one singular E.
Whenever an Alphablock sticks with another Alphablock, they make a diagraph. Some examples include "ch", "aw", and "qu".
An Alphablock is capable of glowing their top segment, sometimes in different colours as well.
Alphablocks are extremely likely to be immortal, meaning they are incapable of age or decease since they are nothing short of talking inanimate blocks with faces and limbs. Though, X does call them “alphamortals,” possibly suggesting he’s immortal and the others are not. Also, Z is explicitly old, and Y is very young.
F, S, and X can all fly. F and S use air, but with X it just seems to be a natural ability.
P can float, but it’s unclear if that counts as flight or not.
When not using their hidden anatomy, their hand shape evokes the appearance of permanently wearing mittens. Taken up a notch with those who wear gloves, because the gloves are technically mittens, made to fit their hands.During the early seasons of the show, the fingers "mitten" hands can separated when an Alphablock needs to point.
This is an extremely rare ability. T stubbed his “toe” in Best, but he doesn’t have any.
Most of the Alphablocks voice actors also voice a few Numberblocks and to a lesser extent, Colourblocks.
Alphablocks commonly laugh, gasp, or grunt by their letter sounds.
They are the only Learningblocks to have 2D faces and be cel-shaded.
Most Alphablocks use words that start with their letter.
Their glass caps underwent a minor design change in Series 5, as they now appear to be slightly frosted with no outline.
The Alphablocks are the only Learningblocks to
all debut in one episode.
have a clear part, in this case, their glass heads.

not have a known origin, but suggested by the intro (and constant gag from A) they likely also fell from the sky.

have actual lips (well, some of them do).
have noses. (except O)
