Alphablocks Game

Alphablocks Game was an interactive web game based on Alphablocks, created to accompany the original series produced by Alphablocks Ltd. and animated by Magic Lantern. The game launched around the same time as the show’s release on the official CBeebies website.

Uniquely, some of the episodes were retrofitted to be interactive, allowing players to drag Alphablocks letters into spaces to spell words and unlock animations. According to player accounts, the game included all episodes available at the time, with over a third adapted to let users choose which words to spell. These interactive versions also contained additional scenes not shown in the broadcast episodes, making them exclusive to the game.

The character Z narrated instructions, encouraging players to explore episodes and collect stickers by finding “star words.” In the interactive episodes, Alphablocks could be dragged into empty spaces; if a nonsense word was spelled, the blocks would shrug and reset.

From 3rd October, 2017 onward, the game was removed from the CBeebies website, likely due to compatibility issues with newer technology. The game was later succeeded by Alphablocks World, a more modern digital platform.
