The aim of this project is to create a University environment that is stimulating for development of circular economy concepts for business students through stimulating academia-industry linkages, and enhancing the digitization of the higher education sector. Through the project activities we will enable the students to develop knowledge, skills and competences about the circular economy. By doing so they will be better prepared for their future jobs and in helping the companies implement the principles of a circular economy thus positively influencing the future economic growth of the countries as well as the transformation towards a green economy.
The project will therefore contribute directly to the horizontal priority “Environment and Fight against climate change” as the project aims to enrich the materials, activities and teaching practices at University level aimed at enhancing the teaching and learning about circular economy which has been deemed as one of the most important pillars of the transformation leading to green economy. In addition, the project aims at enhancing the digital competences of both teaching staff and students. One of the outcomes of the project is the development of a digital repository of Open Educational Repository materials related to circular economy knowledge and skills in the SEE region.
The production of the materials will develop and stimulate the academia business linkages in the region and focus on innovative learning methodologies such as case study teaching, interactive lectures and quizzes as well as interviews with people from the circular economy sector. These activities fall under the domain of “Rewarding excellence in learning, teaching and skills development'' as they focus on developing new practices in instructional design based on research and creativity; and foster innovative and open higher education through promotion of partnerships with organizations in the private sector. They are also related to the “Stimulation of innovative learning and teaching practices” as they try to mainstream sustainable development in all curricula for students and test the possibility of developing short learning courses (through boot-camp activities) that can later on lead to micro-credentials.
