LDSAFA participated in RootsTech 2018

     LDSAFA  participated in RootsTech 2018, which was held in Salt Lake City, Utah, on February 28 - March 3, 2018.  At this conference LDSAFA sponsored a booth where free patron information was be distributed about LDS Ancestral Family Organizations (AFOs).

     Also, on RootsTech Discovery Day, Saturday, March 3, 2018, LDSAFA sponsored a free activity at its booth entitled "Three Sum Match"--in which all youth (17 years and younger) could participate and become eligible to receive a $25 Visa gift card during a random drawing.  There were three winners in this event.

     In addition, on Saturday, March 3, 2018, from 1:30 to 2:30 PM, LDSAFA officers and members gave a RootsTech class presentation on Family Organizations in the Digital Age--which discussed the latest proven methods on how to successfully start, sustain and grow family organizations in the digital age.  Sixty-three people attended this presentation.  

     LDSAFA had a display booth (# 406) at RootsTech 2018  where free information was distributed to visitors.  This information included free patron handouts from LDSAFA member organizations who were contributing sponsors of LDSAFA at RootsTech 2018.

Wednesday, February 28, 2018, 3:00-4:00 PM: Top Ten Clues Provided by Death Records. Presentation by Mauri S. Pratt, Secretary of the Jared Pratt Family Association. This presentation explored the six distinct categories of death records and how these types of death records could reveal many clues to help people discover more about their ancestors.

Friday, March 2, 2018, 1:30-2:30 PM: Collaboration - Families and Associations. Presentation by Gordon M. Taylor, past President and Vice-President of Descendant Research for the Joseph Taylor Sr. Family Association.  This presentation discussed collaboration within families and associations on several different levels.

Saturday, March 3, 2018, 1:30-2:30 PM: Family Organizations in the Digital Age. Presentation by R. Clayton Brough, Secretary of LDSAFA, with contributions from Richard E. Braegger, President of the Braithwaite Family Organization, R. Shane Brough, President of the Brough Family Organization, Michael A. Kennedy, President of the Joseph Smith Jr. and Emma Hale Historical Society, and Sydney Orton, LDSAFA Youth Ambassador.  This presentation discussed the latest proven methods on how to successfully start, sustain and grow family organizations in the digital age.
