Migrant means someone or something who travels looking for a better life.
Today we will create a map of our travels inspired by Sonia’s music.
Someone or something who travels looking for a better life. They may have adventures along the way.
I use a map when I am traveling. It shows me how to get from one spot to another. It helps me plan my trip.
An exciting experience where I will be doing and seeing a lot of different things.
Where have I traveled?
Where would I like to travel?
What will I do when I get there?
What will I see while I travel?
Before I start my map, I can warm up as I listen to Sonia’s song “La Golondrina”...
I will skip to 6:05 in the video where Sonia talks about La Golondrina.
Sonia encourages us to move our arms during the song: Up (Ariba) and Down (Abajo). I’ll practice moving my arms, I’m like a bird!
I’ll move my arms while Sonia plays. When she sings I’ll move my arms slow, when she plays her instruments I can move them faster.
Is it somewhere outside, inside, far, near, warm, cold?
Will I travel by train, bike, drive, walk, fly?
Will I see animals, people, nature, famous places?
Will I visit friends, take photographs, go swimming?
If I want, I can also act out my trip instead of drawing or writing.
What will I bring with me on my travels? Who will come with me?
Sonia describes herself as a Golondrina. What animal would I be, and why?
What other adventures would I like to have? Where else would I like to travel?
