The theme for this week is: Friendship

In this video, Morgan Taylor performs songs about Gustafer Yellowgold, a 9 year-old friendly alien from the sun.

His best friend from the sun is Ellen Lemon. His pet eel, Slim the Eel, is also his friend.

Today I will think about friendship and create art inspired by Gustafer Yellowgold and my friends.

I will warm-up by thinking about the word FRIENDSHIP and moving my body to create a Friendship Dance.

Step 3:
What makes a good friend?

Let's think about the qualities that make a good friend by creating a Friendship Sun!

For this activity I will need...

A piece of blank paper and something to write with
(pencil, colored pencils, crayons, and/or markers)

Steps to preparing my Friendship Sun...

First, I will create the outline of my Friendship Sun.

Step 1: I will draw a circle in the middle of my paper. This will be the center of my sun.

Step 2: To draw the rays of sunshine I will put my palm in the center of the sun and use my fingers to trace the rays.

I will rotate the paper and trace my fingers again until I've draw rays all around the sun.

Then, I will draw a picture of what makes me a good friend in the center of my Friendship Sun

Next, I will think about my friends.

I can write down their names in the rays of the sun.

Last, I will think about what makes each of them a good friend.

I can write why they are a good friend in the other sunshine rays.

I can make my Friendship Sun unique!

If I want, I can add colors and decorations on the page.

Step 4: Share my Friendship Sun

I will share my Friendship Sun with my friends!

They will be so happy to hear from me and why I think they are a good friend.

I will make them smile!
