ReThink 315
By: Collin Woodson
On Friday September 16th, 2022, Liberty Christian Academy (LCA) 9th-11th graders left school for Sunrise Church to attend a ReThink 315 conference. The trip started off well, until two of three cars got lost following the wrong person who had a similar car to the one the group was following. Once we arrived, the group exited their vehicles and walked inside the church to get their seats. The speech was inspiring and the school learned much about apologetics. We learned that apologetics means to defend the Christian faith, and that ReThink315’s mission is to increase the number of Christian who are willing to share their faith. We also read the passage 1 Peter 3:15 apologia (Latin for the word defense) “..but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect,”
(1 Peter 3:15 ESV) We learned a few random things as well. Not everything is a courtroom debate or cross reference, words in Scripture are sometimes layered so apologetics can mean different things such as a response or answer. Always be ready to give people an answer. Different people ask different questions at different times for different reasons. If we don't answer the questions that matter, we will become irrelevant. Christianity is anchored in Earth's history. After the speech we all went into the main area to eat our lunch and chill out for a while. Eventually when it was time, we all left and boarded the van and cars and made our way back to school to finish the rest of our day.
