The seventh and eighth-grade classes went on a field trip to the Daniel Boone Home. Many of them agreed they would like to do another field trip like again because it was interesting and they had fun with their friends but were still learning about history. The class explored the Daniel Boone house. They also went to the trading shop there. They saw the River Cane Heritage Workshop where they process the river cane they grow. Something else they got to see was a man shoot a replica of a Pennsylvania Long Rifle or a Daniel Boone gun, which is what Daniel Boone and other frontiersmen used for protection and food.
The Daniel Boone home is located in Defiance, Missouri. They came to Missouri in 1799, because of religious persecution. Boone was one the last people to pick land in his group because he had to return home. Daniel Boone is known for his exploration and settling of Kentucky. He went beyond the borders of the thirteen colonies, spread, and multiplied. Eventually, he settled down in Missouri with his family. Daniel Boone’s youngest son, Nathan Boone, helped him build the house. It was originally a log building and later was rebuilt with stone. The architectural style of the house is Georgian which was common from 1700 to 1780.
