LIFE AT THE WHITE HOUSE

Five years in the White House brought the Johnson family moments of great joy, including the weddings of the Johnson daughters and the birth of the "First Grandson." The presidency also brought the trials of life in the spotlight, especially as the Vietnam War intensified and the president's two sons-in-law left to serve in the war.

The First Family also included the "First Dogs." The Johnsons came to the White House with two beagles, Him and Her. The President's favorite dog, however, was a mutt that Luci found along a Texas highway on Thanksgiving Day in 1966. She named him Yuki, which means snow in Japanese.
