No, a social security number is not required on the application. However, we highly encourage providing your social security number if you have access to it. Should you decide to enroll at LA Valley College after you graduate from high school, having your social security number on file will be needed for most types of Financial Aid.
Select the term you are applying for based on the course start date.
Summer courses start in June or July.
Spring courses start in January, February, and March.
Fall courses start in August, September, and October.
(We do not offer Dual Enrollment courses during LA Valley College's Winter term)
A new K-12 Form must be submitted for each term or new course the student wishes to enroll in at Los Angeles Valley College. Students must complete a new LAVC Application (CCCApply) if more than one (1) year has passed since they were last enrolled in an LAVC course.
Summer and Fall Courses: Students should apply to LAVC and complete their K-12 Forms in April.
Spring Courses: Students should apply to LAVC and complete their K-12 Forms in early November.
Once the semester has started, the student will need to obtain a permission number from the instructor - the student will be unable to add a class that has already begun without a permission number, and only the instructor can provide the student with a permission number. Search for an instructor’s email in the Faculty & Staff Directory. Access the Directory HERE.
Click HERE for a video tutorial of adding a class with a permission number.
It is the student's responsibility to meet any prerequisites for a class. A prerequisite is a requirement that a student demonstrates current readiness to enroll in a particular course or program. Students may use unofficial transcripts to clear prerequisites based on classes taken at California colleges and universities. Prerequisites cannot be cleared based on high school credit, high school transcripts, or high school counselor recommendation.
The LAVC Dual Enrollment team works closely with high school counselors to ensure that our courses are accessible to all students.
Emails from Dynamic Forms may end up in spam or junk folders. You may need to ask your parent/guardian or counselor to check their spam folders.
Make sure you entered your parent/guardian and counselor's email addresses. If you made an error when you input their email addresses, log into your Dynamic Forms account, go to My Forms, and click Pending/Draft Forms. Select Action and Manage Co-Signers. If needed, you may edit the email address or send a new reminder for signature.
If your parent/guardian or counselor is still having trouble receiving emails from Dynamic Forms, they can also electronically sign your K-12 Form by completing the steps below:
Create a Dynamic Forms account using the parent email address that was listed on the form (if there is not one already). Note: The email address associated with the Dynamic Forms account MUST match the parent email listed on the form.
Once the parent has created their account, they should be able to login and access their form(s) in their Pending/Draft folder. They will need to click the Action dropdown and select the "Complete Form" option to enter and sign the form. Make sure to click the Submit button once they have added an electronic signature.
Tuition is FREE for High School Students! High school students concurrently enrolled in a public school district are exempt from enrollment fees charged for all terms, including Summer. Enrollment fees are waived for students taking 11 units or less district-wide during the Fall/ Spring semesters or 9 units or less during the Summer term.
Proper submission of the K-12 Form ensures that all fees are waived.
Most courses take place at our partner high schools. However, some courses are virtual or a hybrid of both in-person and virtual instruction.
Yes! Dual Enrollment and Concurrent students in high school have access to the same resources available to all LAVC students, including tutoring. To access more information about LAVC's Academic Resource Center click HERE.
