The steps below will provide instructions on how to enroll in a course. You can also watch a video tutorial HERE.
After your LAVC application was processed, you should have received an Acceptance Letter email from noreply@email.laccd.edu. This email included your LACCD Student ID Number, which you used to fill out the K-12 Form, as well as a LACCD email address and a link to your Student Portal (SIS): MyCollege.laccd.edu.
To access the Student Portal and enroll in your dual enrollment course, click the button above or go to MyCollege.laccd.edu.
When you log in for the FIRST time please follow the steps below. You can watch a video tutorial of logging into SIS for the first time HERE.
Student username is your Student ID number or your @student.laccd.edu email address.
Example student ID’s: 881234567 or 901234567 or smithj1234@student.laccd.edu
All student default passwords will consist of:
the first character of your first name (capitalized) + the first character of your last name (capitalized) + the birth month spelled out (with first character capitalized) + day of your birthdate + @ + LACCD!
For Example, Jane Doe, who was born on July the 4th, her default password would be: JDJuly04@LACCD!
Please Note: On the initial change where it asks for “Old Password” enter your default password with the format above.
Once you log in with this temporary password, you will be instructed to create a new password and log in again. You can also find these instructions when you click "1st time signing in?" below the Sign In button.
Once your K-12 Form has been processed by Admissions & Records, you will receive an email from notify@ngwebsolutions.com notifying you that the form was processed. Once you receive this email, you can enroll in your LAVC course.
When you are logged into your Student Portal, you will be able to enroll in your course!
Select Manage Classes (Add/Drop) on the student portal homepage.
Go to "Class Search and Enroll" on the left side of the screen.
Select your Term.
Search for your course.
Searching by class section number will be easiest.
Select your class.
Do not click on the blue, hyperlinked text when you want to enroll. The hyperlinked text will open a window with information about the course, but will not allow you to enroll.
Make sure to carefully select your course! Review the information to confirm that it is the correct course you are trying to enroll in.
Select "Enroll"
Do not select "Add to shopping cart."
If you are trying to enroll after the course start date, you will need to enter a permission number obtained from the course instructor.
Click Accept
Click Submit
You are enrolled!
You will see your course on your Canvas dashboard 24 hours after enrolling. You may access Canvas via the homepage of your Student Portal.
Canvas is a web-based learning management system, or LMS. It is used throughout the LACCD by our educators and students to access and manage course learning materials and communicate about learning achievement. Course materials, assignments, and other resources will be posted and updated by instructors throughout the term.
Access Canvas directly from your Student Portal. It will take about 24 hours for you course to appear in Canvas after you've enrolled. In Canvas, you can access tech support and a live chat. The dedicated Canvas Live Chat is open 24/7 to faculty and students and should be used as a first resort. These are well-trained professionals who can answer your questions right away via the Canvas Help - Live Chat. Please use them as much as possible.
