For my pre-placement travels I picked places which I felt not only were a trip but a Educationl experinece. As an art eductor it seemed perfect for me to travel to one of the centers of art! So off to Italy I went!
Rome, Italy
In Rome I was able to see many beautiful and preserved pieces of the old world ranging from the Colosseum to Vatican city.
Within Vatican City, there are many of famous art works from Michellangelo to Raphel, which were made nearly 500 years ago. But have you ever wonder just how these paintings have survived the toll of time?
Well part of that is due to the painting technique of Fresco which involves painting on wet plaster. After this plaster dries the paint is essentialy cemented within the space of plaster, holding up against the test of time more than traditional painting.
Pompeii, Nopal Italy
Beyond just the miles of ruins, Pompeii still ofters a view into art of those art the time. Showing some imagery left on walls, painted columns, and tiled grounds.
Off to Sweden!
