First Impressions

We made it!

Arrival Day: April 3, 2024

After dealing with cancelled flights and many layovers I made it to Linköping! I already knew things were going to be way different because I landed in the smallest airport I have ever seen, after asking this plane actually only makes one flight in and out. I was then picked up by the Cordinator of internaotial students, Lena. She picked me up and off we went.

We head to the University to get my keys, ID card, and more information, while I was there I was able to see college students and what some of their rutine was. Soon after we made it to where I would be living at for the next 3 weeks. For my accommodations I was given a room with a bed, desk, table, and a private bath as well I shared kitchen/common space with 7 others (one of who being Olivia who I traveled from WKU with).

I had to get a bunch of "starter" items for being in a dorm, that included buying Bedding, Towels, lamps, and trashcan. If you are traveling light I would suggest that you bring your own sheets to save money!

Some Quick realizations:

The City Size

I had previously thought that Linköping would be very large, however I realized that it is actually only double the size of Bowling Green, Ky.

Food

It might have been delusional of me, but I did not think food would be too far from American (specifically in grocery stores) however after buy my first batch of groceries I was going to have to adapt my taste pallet while I was there.

Quiet

Those in Sweden are very quite and tend to keep to themselves, which at first was great for me but soon I had to start really pushing myself to get to know others.

First Day of School: April 8, 2024

The first day of class was a flood of many emotions, from being nervous to being exicted. I was able to walk right in and met my mentor teacher for the month! At first I felt like maybe there wasnt so much different from back home, but over time I started to notice more and more that was different than what I was used to.

Off to Gothenburg

For our time abroad we decided to make the most of it, spending our weekends all across the EU. Our first stop was Gothenburg, Sweden. It showed more history than Linköping with castles  and colorfull buildings.

Now to Copenhagen

Our next stop, Copenhagen Denmark. Here I saw the flurishing night life, bright spaces, and historical landmarks that make Denmark stand tall. It also have us a break from the cloudy days with some much needed sunshine!

Scotland? Yes, please!!

For our last weekend trip we landed in Edinburgh Scotland. A place so rich in history and amazing architecture, a must see if you get the chance.

This was our longest visit outside of just being in Sweden, which was so worth it.

Now let's talk comparison
