All three definintions of the word Iris served as a basis for the conception and formation of this woman's collective of artists and educators. The IRIS Group is a forum within which alliances and collaborative efforts can be generated naturally. The Durham Region based collective was formed in 1996 with an aim to raise levels of access for women in the arts, to share ideas and offer mutual support. The IRIS Group also works to develop projects that further the overall intentions of the group.
