Standard 4: The competent teacher structures a safe and healthy learning environment that facilitates cultural and linguistic responsiveness, emotional well-being, self-efficacy, positive social interaction, mutual respect, active engagement, academic risk-taking, self-motivation, and personal goal-setting.
Rationale:
As a requirement for the AEDU 380 course we were challenged to create a class website that will reflect the outline of our classroom management setup for our future classroom. The website entails the classroom expectations, rules, procedures and additional resources for parents and students.
Standard four is related to this assignment because it embodies the aspects of how the environment of the classroom should be. The website describes in details how culture and diversity as well as the social emotional aspect will be implemented into my physical education class. My website shows how students will be encouraged to be in charge of their own success.
This assignment gave me an opportunity to think about and plan out my vision of how I possibly want to run my class. Learning how to properly implement rules, consequences and culture will help me better prepare for my future p.e. class. This assignment taught me how to be creative and create a website that will be meaningful and resourceful for the students and parents.
