Collaborative Relationships

Standard 8: The competent teacher builds and maintains collaborative relationships to foster cognitive, linguistic, physical, and social and emotional development. This teacher works as a team member with professional colleagues, students, parents or guardians, and community members.

Rationale:

We were challenged to create an informative flyer on the importance of social emotional learning.

Standard Connection:

This assignment connects to this standard because it not only enlightens the students as well as the parents on the importance of connecting our social experiences to our emotional experiences and tying them together for a more beneficial learning experience. It also gives the parents much needed insight on how we are working to help our students become more aware of themselves.

Self Evaluation:

This assignment gave me an opportunity research and gather statistics on the importance of social emotional learning. With this information I can create my lesson plans with all of this data in mind. That way we are purposely working to ensure that our students needs are being met.

Rationale:

This is a handout created to hold students accountable in the class, they as well as their parents sign off on it to agree that they understand the expectations and will try their best to adhere to the expectations.

Standard Connection:

This connects to the standard because it is a way to communicate what is expected from the students in this class. It goes over the goals of the class, how to succeed in the class, proper uniform expectation, the plans for the year and how to conduct themselves in the weight room. As the instructor we have created a way to not only communicate the expectations of the class to the students but the parents as well. Parents will have an opportunity to look over this and sign off on it as well as the students. It is a way to collaborate with the parents and students in a way to hold students accountable.

Self Evaluation:

As an educator collaboration with all parties is essential for the success of the student. I will work hard to have an open line of communication, to insure that students and parents can reach me with any concerns. I pride myself on being able to effectively communicate with my students and be able to respond to students and parents in a way that makes them feel comfortable to always come to
