The Las Plumas FFA Chapter was established in 1965 to provide the students of Las Plumas High School with the ability to harness and gain skills in the diverse field of agriculture. Even though every student may not choose a career in agriculture, FFA provides students with essential skills and confidence to be successful in any career path. Today the Las Plumas FFA chapter has over 400 members and five Ag teachers. Each day the members of the Las Plumas FFA Chapter show up excited for the skills they will learn and memories they will create.
Classroom This ring represents the foundational, formal instruction students receive in agricultural education. The purpose of this section is to provide students with the knowledge and technical skills needed to understand agriculture, food, and natural resources. Through classroom lectures, discussions, hands-on labs, and experiments, students learn core subjects like animal science, agricultural science, agricultural mechanics, and agricultural business. This learning sets the stage for practical application and leadership development through the other two rings.
FFA The FFA component focuses on leadership, personal growth, and career success through student involvement in a national organization. The purpose of FFA is to help students develop soft skills such as communication, teamwork, and public speaking, while also offering opportunities for competition, travel, and scholarships. By participating in FFA, students build confidence and connections that enhance their academic and career readiness in agriculture and beyond.
SAE The SAE component allows students to apply what they’ve learned in the classroom in real-world, hands-on settings. The purpose of an SAE is to give students practical experience through projects such as owning and operating a small business, working in an agricultural job, or conducting research. These experiences help students explore career options, develop specialized skills, and earn money or school credit, making learning more personal and impactful.
