An overhaul of the Unity 2D Platformer template to enhance the game feel and look.
This game prototype was made by me for an assignment for the subject Game Feel. None of the sprite assets seen in this game are made by me. This project was made using the Unity 2D Platformer template which we had to improve and expand upon. I started out by adding particles, better sounds and satisfying effects to give the player's actions more weight, such as screenshake.
We also had to make a menu for the game, which I tried to make as fun interacting with as possible. The buttons interact in a playful way and the transition from the menu to the game is seamless.
Lastly I added visual effects such as parallaxing, lighting and particles. This project uses Universal Render Pipeline (URP) for the lighting and glow effects.
The main menu which I made myself (aside from the sprites). I animated the game title text myself and added satisfying hover effects over the buttons.
In the gameplay, I changed the movement a bit to feature coyote time and a jump buffer to feel more forgiving to the player. I also added some walk and jump particles, which I drew in Aseprite.
