Stage 3
Now it's time to compile all the information and create!
Do you remember the tasksheet with questions and answers you created in the previous stage and the extra information you retrieved from instagram posts? Well, that's the information you will use to create the infographic.
First of all, What is an infographic, and how do we create one?
According to Oxford Dictionary (n.d.) an infographic is "a picture or diagram or a group of pictures or diagrams showing or explaining information". You have probably read an infographic before, but just in case, have a look at this example.
Read the infographic and observe characteristics to complete this chart. Then, share with your classmates. Do you all agree? Can you think of any other essential characteristic for an effective infographic?
Individually, explore the following website with 10 tips to create an infographic, and select the 3 you believe will help you the most according to this project and objective. Then, group with two or three classmates and share your choices.
Step 1: Organize all the information. Now that you now how to create an infographic, it's time to agree with each other about the order, titles, subtitles, disposition, etc. Remember that you will use the information retrieved from the websites explored in the previous stages.
Step 3: Review time. Once you finish, you will rotate your infographic (eg. Deforestation group, you will read Pollution's output. Pollution's group will read climate change output, and so on). When you check it, think about the following parametres:
Is the information easy to understand?
Are there grammar mistakes?
Are there two sentences in the first conditional?
Do the images/ drawings accompany the information?
Are the sources aknowledged?
Step 4: Almost finished! If you need to make any necessary changes according to the feedback given from the other group, do so. Then, upload them in this padlet so that the teacher can print them later on, and stick them on the school's walls. Also, you can share the padlet among your friends and family to raise awareness!
