STEAM Night is next Wednesday (11/9)!
If you are volunteering with another club check in with an officer to get credit for attending/volunteering, but you will NOT be able to get SciNHS hours
If you have a game or performance you should have already reached out to Mrs.Tomlin or me with a note from a coach or teacher
Once you arrive, sign in with an officer and sign out with an officer before you leave
Table assignments per volunteer will be sent out this weekend or by Monday
Wear a Lake Nona or navy shirt with pants or shorts and closed-toe shoes
STEAM Night responsibilities per shift:
Shift 1 will be setting up the tables
Whatever table you are assigned to, you will be the “stamper.” You will be responsible for stamping passports when they complete your station
2 people per shift will be at the door welcoming people in and handing out passports
Shift 2 will be assisting with taking down everything and cleaning up the cafeteria at the end

Restore Our Shores: Upcoming volunteering event on Saturday, November 19th from 9am to 1pm.
Volunteers must be ages 15 and over! This is an outdoor volunteering event. The location is near the Brevard Zoo which is about 40 minutes away.
Google Form will be sent out on the Remind. This is already published on the website under the Community Service Tab as well

FIRST NEW MEMBER MEETING:
Community Service
8 hours of community service are required per semester, do not wait until the last minute. Hours can be turned in by filling out volunteer form. It must be signed by supervisor of event.
Last day of the semester, December 17th, will be the last day to submit hours.
Letters Against Isolation, an organization for seniors in senior living facilities. gain 1 hour for every 2 letters you write. Letter should not include any contact information to protect your privacy and should remain politically and religiously neutral.
Fees
New member dues are $25 and are due by December meeting and will be collected on schoolpay.com. Send receipt to Treasurer to show you have paid
If financial situation does not allow for the payment of dues, financial scholarship is available. See Mrs. Tomlin
Report Cards
Semester 1 report cards will be collected at the January meeting. You must have a 3.5 unweighted Science and Regular GPA to prevent being placed on probation.

A quick reminder that as a member of SciNHS you are expected to keep an appropriate social media presence. Lack of such will cause your dismissal from the club.
Members are encouraged to bring up new ideas for community service.
Fees
Members who have not payed dues by October meeting will be placed on probation. Dues must be payed by the end of the semester and members who payed after the due date must complete two extra hours of community service.
If members are not able to pay dues due to financial hardships, an application for a financial scholarship is now available, which can be found under forms.

March 6th, 2020 Meeting
March 7th Cleanup- If you are signed up to volunteer at Saturdays cleanup, please enter through the bus loop at 9 am (9-12).
Cleanup/Tree planting on march 28th- Sign up and Info will be sent out through remind so please make sure to be on alert for this event.
Field Trip refunds- If you paid for Seaworld, refunds have gone through and should appear soon.
Field trip change- We have changed the field trip location due to lack of signups.
Officer interviews- Deadline for Officer applications is March 27th (last Friday of March). Officer interviews will be held in EARLY APRIL Wednesday April 1st 1:20-2 and April 2nd 2:20-4:30.Time slots will be sent out.
Spring break RMCDH- Please confirm with Sofia Ahmed if you are still planning on attending RMCDH during this spring break.
February 7th, 2020 Meeting

Our beach clean up will take place this Saturday with Mrs. Jensen at Daytona Beach Pier at 10:30 AM.
ROSE SALE: Please sign up to cut thorns on Wednesday the 12th or volunteer to deliver roses during the day! (GET YOUR COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS ON TIME)
We will be having a Ronald McDonald event next Saturday on the 15th. Volunteers will be chosen by whoever responds faster to the message we send out.
January 13th, 2020 Meeting
The new volunteer oppotunity chart displays the several volutneer opportunities coming up in the upcoming months as well as the officers that will be present at each activity.
This saturday, RMCDH- 7 spots left!
Our field trip will either be to Kennedy Space Center or Seaworld and will take place on Friday, February 21,2020.
If you need more hours, you can participate in the Recycling Program or help with science tutoring afterschool with any science teacher.
REMINDER: When you get your S1 report card, make a copy or give us the original at the February meeting in order for us to ensure you’re meeting grade requirements.
November 1st, 2019 Meeting

STEAM night is on November 6th from 5-7pm. There are three volunteer shifts: 4-7, 5-8, 4-8. THIS IS A MANDATORY EVENT.
INDUCTIONS are on December 6th. Meeting and rehearsal is at 2:20 in the auditorium. For the inductions; new members be there at 6 pm; event starts 6:30 OLD MEMBERS MUST BE IN AUDIENCE and will sign in for attendance at the end.
At this meeting, shirts were given out. We also ordered more for those members that still don't have shirts.
October 4th, 2019 Meeting
We discussed over the website that is available to all members and we showed them how to access it to view our service hour requirements, volunteer forms, and how to check attendance and how to get info from missed meetings
In addition both reminds for the recycling program (Join remind text @g8ae3c to 810-10) and our club itself were shared with the members of Science NHS Club. (Remind code: text @lnhsscinhs to 810-10)
The members were encouraged to come out tomorrow to the homecoming parade and support from 4:30-6:00pm
The first volunteer opportunity of the year was announced: Sunblaze Elementary STEAM night next Thursday October 10th from 6-7:30

STEAM night will be on Wed. November 6th from 5-7, setup from 3-5 takedown from 7-9 which is our mandatory event unless for extremely valid excuse.
The recycling program was passed over to ngss but hours are still acceptable as snhs hours but they must sign in with Jense in portable 15 to receive community service hours.
Inductions are on December 6th which is Mandatory for old members to come and support and If your parent works in the science field come talk to us after for speakers at induction.
Fees were due sept 30th for old members and today for new members. If your fees are not paid by Mon you will have one additional hour of community service to complete. If old members do not pay by monday then they will be dismissed from the club and If you have financial concerns please come talk to us or email Mrs. Tomlin.
March 7, 2019 Meeting

Due to no or unfinished submission of volunteer hours for the first semester, you will have 30 days to turn them in (This will be March 11th). This is in addition to your 10 (you are being penalized with an extra 2 hours that are due by the end of the second semester, 3rd quarter for seniors).
If you failed to turn your report card in for the first semester you have until March 14th to turn in a copy. Progress book report cards will not be accepted, please go to student services to get a copy.
If you fail to do so you will be dismissed from the Science National Honor Society.
Officer Applications for Next School Year
Applications can be picked up in room 577 and are due April 12th!
Here are everyone’s duties:
Sci NHS Pres prepares meeting agenda and runs meetings, in charge of induction and field trip coordination as well as promoting the club.
Vice pres will assist Pres with club events and attend ICC meetings. Arrange collaboration with other clubs for community service and/or collaborative events and will review the attendance of members.
Comm svc officer in charge of outreach for elementary and middle school tutoring and stem nights. Must make sure to confirm dates with persons in charge and find as many comm svc opportunities as possible. Will organize local school comm svc events and projects such as garden project and mural. Inputs and maintains comm svc hours.
Secretary takes minutes at all meetings and posts them to the website also reviews and inputs report cards/GPA.
Treasurer works on Club dues, field trip dues, t-shirt and cord distribution may need to pick up supplies and shirt orders.
Historian is in charge of social media and updating the website with photos and event information and updates/creates slideshows for induction ceremony or other presentations and update and maintain SciNHS facebook page.

Our end of year pizza party and next year's officer announcement will be MAY 3rd!
