Their work was non-representational and non-realistic. And while their pieces were "expressive," it was not obvious to the viewer exactly what was being expressed. It was up to the viewer to figure it out for him or herself. The movement was called Abstract Expressionism.

Choose one of the abstract expressionists whose work you admire. Research the artist’s life and work. Write a 250- to 350-word essay on your findings.
