In this project I focused on my local area, family and my nationality which is Congolese (DRC)
I really enjoyed this project because it gave me artists I never knew before and that made it more fun to go out and explore more of their work. It also made me more active because I went out around London and to galleries to see art work which helped me develop my ideas. I experimented a lot with drawing and got inspirations and ideas - I can now say that I have improved at drawing and I am really proud.
My initial plan for my final outcome was a painting of London's great buildings because I love drawing buildings - but it didn't work out how I wanted it to work out. I switched lanes and decided to make a book about my area and my family and what the word home means to me in general but also what does the Word HOME mean to you?
A lot of things make us feel at home, such as our bedroom, our phones, our families and so on. For others it could be the area they live in, the neighbourhood/community. For me area is up there but not in my top 2 spots.
In my opinion family has to be number one but for me it has to be a particular person who is my MOTHER. If it wasn't for her I wouldn't be here enjoying and experience life, I wouldn't have lifted up my first pencil I wouldn't have became an artist that I am today. Her every breath will always make me smile, her every smile will make me cry, just knowing I have someone who will always be on my corner to support with my dreams is astonishing.
