The whole concept of my project was focused on the subject of identity. This is because identity is hugely apart of me because it makes me who I am now, another factor of why I chose identity is because there are different concept of which makes my identity for example my family, background, tribe and ethnicity. Therefore I knew for my end of project I wanted it to reflect my background. Once I knew my themes I started to explore different ideas of which i can display my ideas in for example clothing, photography, paintings and drawings
I first began with researching about where I am from Kenya then procced to do an extended research into the different tribes and their own traditional clothing. The artist who inspired me is an Kenyan photographer called Thandiwe Muriu, the reason is because I like how all her artworks stands out in their own way and each have their own story. Once I had completed my research into Kenya I began with doing my own experimental drawing of my patterns and dress, then thinking and planning out how I could transfer my pattern design onto fabric.
With my final piece I was very happy with the outcome, as it turned out better than I anticipated it to.
These are the different pattern which I made using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, I enjoyed doing this because I was able to see it how it looks professional, neat and was able to put the design of the dress against the pattern which made it easier to envision the dress more.
