After receiving feedback from my lecturer, I have found that whilst the top half of my design was fine, I had pushed my design a little to far with the bottom half. I have ben told the the extra musculature of one of the previous designs along with having discernible feet/ hooves is more visually appealing. I am thinking I will give my design two-toed, clawed feet as that will somewhat look more like hooves whilst making a little more sense to my mind regarding how such as creature would move and stand.
As such, that is one of the main redesigns I am going to apply to my Wendigo. As well as that I am also going to clean up the head and neck, give my creature a proper mouth and simplify the antler. The torso, stomach and arms of my are fine however and so I will only make rather more minor changes in those places, maybe beef it up in some places to match the leg redesign. I think I may also try to incorporate some tribal designs carved into my characters skin.
Another thing I need to consider is a backstory for my character, for example my character might be the original Wendigo, the progenitor of the species.
Overall though I feel that I had moved to far away from the original creature and in doing so failed to recognise what the Wendigo represents; cannibalism, taboo, insatiable greed and murder. The Wendigo is a representation of savagery at its finest and I had started to neglect this fact, something I will rectify in my design.
