Announcement: Altaf S. AlSabah Award for Excellence in Textile Arts

We are thrilled to announce the inaugural “Altaf S. AlSabah Award for Excellence in Textile Arts”

This prestigious award celebrates the innovative spirit and artistic mastery of contemporary textile artists who beautifully blend tradition with modernity . In honor of Shaikha Altaf's enduring commitment to the arts and cultural heritage, this award seeks to recognize and reward exceptional talent in the field of textile arts.

The main objective of this annual award is to:

-Showcase the rich intercrossing of contemporary forms with traditional designs and concepts from the textile heritage of Kuwait.

-Support and encourage hand skills in the field of textile arts in Kuwait.

The award aims to recognize pieces that not only demonstrate technical excellence and creativity but also honor and innovate upon traditional Kuwaiti fiber arts.

All KTAA members who incorporate traditional elements with contemporary forms are eligible for the award. This is a unique opportunity to be part of an exciting journey that honors the past while shaping the future of textile art. Submission Guidelines:

Any fiber art piece is eligible for entry into the “Altaf S. AlSabah Award for Excellence in Contemporary Textile Art”, provided it incorporates both contemporary and traditional designs. Submissions will be part of the 24th annual KTAA exhibition, scheduled for May 2025. Along with your piece, please provide a brief artist statement that explains how your work blends traditional techniques with contemporary approaches.
