I believe that philosophy statements are beliefs of oneself, everybody serves a purpose in this life. There was a quote from Spider Man first in Marvel comics films “With great power comes great responsibility.” I always think of this phrase whenever I speak about leadership because for me being a leader means you are given a power to influence other, but also making prudent use of your authority for the benefit of your clients and team. As a nurse leader it is important to have a positive out-look in life and to us to display the qualities of a good leader such as: integrity, delegation, communication, self-awareness, gratitude, agility, influence, empathy, courage, and respect. (Leading Effective Staff January, 2023). I will make sure that I follow the CNO standard and guidelines to give quality care to our clients by applying the five components of therapeutic nurse-client relationship according to College of Nurses of Ontario not only to clients but also to my team members. First, I will show respect by listening to them, paying attention to their needs and valuing their time and effort. Second, empathy by involving my team in decision making exercising my democratic leadership style according to James Cook University. Third, trusting my team and being honest and consistent. Fourth, professional intimacy, showing how optimistic am I greeting and smiling to my team just to lessen the tension and to change the atmosphere, cheering for them. Lastly, power. I will use my power to give feedbacks for them to reflect, provide developmental opportunities, and to mentor them. In the long run, these values will help my team to reach our goal and to exercise camaraderie at all times. I aspire to become a transformational nurse leader, according to James Cook University in Australia this approach places a strong emphasis on fostering relationships with employees, inspiring team members, and empowering them to support a common goal and vision. Transformational leaders are often gregarious, self-assured, and motivating. Transformational leaders typically inspire admiration and loyalty from their staff members. There are many reasons why transformational leadership can be highly advantageous. First of all, the nursing unit's unified goal unites the staff. Additionally, under transformational leaders, employee churn is typically lower. Change management is another skill that transformational nurse leaders possess.
