I came to Canada to expand and update my knowledge in Nursing and to experience how the health system works in this country and later on I can apply it to my future workplace. I am enrolled in Nursing Leadership and Management because I want to acquire a managerial position in a hospital one day. I finished college with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Nursing in the Philippines and became a Registered Nurse back in my country with almost 8 years of working experience. I was a Volunteer Nurse for almost two years back in my hometown and I enjoyed helping my fellowman and I loved rendering them quality care. After volunteering, I took the Saudi Nursing Licensure Examination and passed that was the time I decided to work abroad and applied as a Nurse in Saudi Arabia. I first worked as a Cardiology Nurse and a Pulmonology Nurse in the outpatient department for almost 5 years. I enjoyed working there because I was able to perform different procedures that were new to me, and I was able to assist different Doctors with different nationalities during their clinic hours in our department. We cater to both adult and pediatric cardiac-related cases such as Atrial Fibrillation, Ischemic Heart Disease, Myocarditis, Ventricular Tachycardia, and many more. I used to hate cardiology when I was in college but during my stay in the Cardiology department I learned to love, and I became more curious about the heart, and anything related to cardiology. I also learned how to read simple ECGs and review the ECGs from the Holter machine. Another thing that I was so proud of was my being able to operate the machine for the Pulmonary Function Test which takes a lot of time to finish. One of the things that I am so proud of during my stay in this department is they awarded me as the best nurse. I cannot believe it myself, all my efforts were appreciated. Following my stay in Out-patient Department I transferred to In-patient Department wherein I became a Nursery Nurse for almost 1 year. I enjoyed my stay there because of the new environment and I was able to meet new colleagues another thing that I like about the Nursery is the babies that I will be taking care of during their stay in the hospital. Those cute little toes when I am bathing them and dressing them in their small clothes. I was able to educate also the mothers on how to breastfeed their babies properly since new mothers have difficulty understanding the importance of it and how it is done. On December 2017 I decided to go back home and be with my family. I became a full-time housewife taking care of my two kids, I came to realize that motherhood is not an easy job but the fulfillment you feel is unimaginable. I learned to appreciate small things and learned how to be patient at all times. I enjoyed going out with my family for a trip, tiring but fulfilling and those are the best days of my life. Being with my family healed me from being burned out from work, it taught me to be simple and to appreciate more the beauty of life. I am proud to say that If I ever be working as a nurse again I can fulfill my duties well because now I know the importance of work and life balance.
