Teachers design, develop, and evaluate authentic learning experiences and assessments incorporating contemporary tools and resources to maximize content learning in context and to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes identified in the Standards•S.
Educators will utilize current technological tools and resources to engage students in learning environments. They will be able to assess current learning objectives that adapt to new trends that promote individual student needs and desires. These learning experiences should be centered around individual learners and scaffolded to fit their needs.
This mini project based learning unit is a great example of allowing students to engage in an authentic learning experience. The students are in control of what type of question they want to survey other students on, and then are able to use the date to work through the statistics unit with their project in mind. The students are also asked to reflect on the project as well as the unit in general. The students interact with the unit through the project, traditional instruction, as well as integration of technology in the classroom. This allows the students to develop skills with google apps for education, deepen their knowledge of statistics, and collaborate with others.
