Understanding skills

  • Each skill is affected by an attribute, which means attribute items and force valor can increase them.

  • Computer use, repair, and persuade are the only skills that have any impact on experience gain.

Computer use, repair

  • Use one of your jedi to cast force valor before attempting; it is a group buff, affects droids, and is active while in the hacking/repair menu.

  • Higher skill reduces the amount of computer spikes or repair parts required, sometimes to 0.

  • T3-M4 can cover both of these skills and is the best at both. Swap him into your party as needed. If party selection is disabled, go somewhere that it's enabled and bring him in, or return with him later.

  • Repairing HK-47 fully requires 17 repair on your main character. Can be supplemented with Calrissian's Utility Belt (+3 repair), Memory Package (+1 intelligence), and master force valor (+5 intelligence).

Demolitions, awareness

  • Allows landmines to be recovered and sold for profit.

  • Specialize your party members so you always have someone with awareness in your active party so you can spot and avoid mines.

  • You can, in most cases, hot swap someone in to disarm mines as you find them, or you can just make them your permanent third party member.

  • The person disarming does not need to be the one with awareness.

  • Minimum 20 awareness and 20 demolitions are required to spot and disarm deadly landmines, which are encountered on Manaan and Korriban. There is no purpose in going over 20.

  • Both skills are easily supplemented by items. In particular, the Advanced Sensory Implant (requires implants 3 feat, purchased on Yavin) gives +10 awareness and is a great item to have in your party until you can hit 20 without it. Canderous, Carth, Mission, or a main character consular are good candidates, but you will need to unlock the implants 3 feat as soon as possible.

Persuade

  • No items available. Can be supplemented by force valor, but its duration will wear off during conversations if you are not quick.

  • Minimum of 4 to pass all persuade checks on Taris; can be supplemented with force valor if you take it on Bastila immediately.

  • A score of 13 guarantees a 25% chance of success on all checks; 19 guarantees a 75% chance.

Stealth, security, treat injury

  • Can be entirely ignored. It is possible to beat the game without these skills or consuming medpacs.
