The data collection process is organized into four key phases to ensure accuracy and consistency. In Phase 0, you will focus on understanding the study design and selecting the appropriate sample, which sets the foundation for your data collection activities. Phase 1 involves identifying data owners, obtaining necessary authorizations, developing your field data collection plan, and attending training sessions. Once you are prepared, Phase 2 begins, where you will start engaging with and recruiting participants. In this phase, you will also begin data collection using the prescribed methods and tools, and work to maintain participant retention. Finally, in Phase 3, your daily data collection ends, and you will focus on securely storing, managing, and safeguarding all the data you have gathered. Each phase is designed to guide you step-by-step, helping you to collect and manage data.
To provide you with better context for data collection, Table 3.1 details all the steps for each phase, briefly describing what they entail.
