Summer Aikido Underway!
NO CLASS THURSDAY, JULY 4, 2024
We will meet our regular hours in the Fellowship Hall at Luther Memorial Lutheran Church, 600 Prices Fork Road.
All classes (Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday) will be for students that have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as we continue to monitor guidance recommendations and trends in COVID-19 cases.
Saturday classes (2:00 - 4:00 pm) will remain as scheduled for beginning students.
Tuesday Classes Return
After several discussions we will be adding our Tuesday night classes back on April 11, 2023 for Beginner / Intermediate Students from 6:00pm - 7:30 pm.

Interim Training Schedule 2021
After several discussions and careful consideration of the recent increases in COVID-19 cases, changes in safe guidance recommendations, and figuring out when we can resume normal operations we will be holding classes on Thursdays only.
Beginning Thursday October 7, 2021 classes will be for intermediate and advanced students only that have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as we continue to monitor guidance recommendations and trends in COVID-19 cases.
Saturday classes will remain as scheduled.
Classes will be at our new location at the Luther Memorial Lutheran Church in Blacksburg in their new Fellowship Hall at 600 Prices Fork Road.

No martial arts experience necessary. Must be 18 years or older to participate. The first few classes will focus on teaching you how to be thrown by your partner without injuring yourself or others. All you need is a t-shirt and long workout pants to cover your knees. No jeans please. Bring a water bottle, and be sure to arrive on time to meet the instructor and sign a risk waiver.

Leslie Kausch is an NC Licensed Professional Counselor who specializes in working with clients dealing with trauma, relationship issues, grief, life transitions, and parenting concerns. She became licensed in 1994, and spent the first decade of her career working primarily with victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. She currently works in the private practice she established in 2010. She is also a 4th degree black belt in Aikido, the Japanese martial art of peace. Her practice of Aikido informs her work with clients, and she sometimes uses the mat space in her office to help female clients learn to take initiative for themselves.

Registration for the Kodokan Aikido Spring semester opens today, Wednesday, December 13!

The semester will begin on Tuesday, January 16, 6:30 pm at War Memorial Gym - Dance Room.
You do not need any martial arts experience, and are free to attend classes the first two to three classes to see if it is right for you. Membership dues are collected during the second week of the semester. Non-members may drop-in on Saturdays starting on January 27th at $5.00 per class until February 24th.
