In CI 5390 we studied problems involving education of children in schools. As we studied these problems we were introduced to the basic research procedures necessary for developing a thesis and completing a research report. We refined our analysis skills as we combed through existing research reports to examine for validity and reliability. For our final piece we each conducted a research study that examined a particular area of interest in the world of education. I chose to learn more about small schools and the fairly new model of schooling, micro-schools. As I had at the time recently joined a Micro-School myself as a teacher I wanted to educated myself further on this. The paper below is the final ethnographic study that I completed on the topic.
The Human Growth and Development course looked extensively at the topics of motivation, the developmental level, and the abilities of individual students. We discussed educational theorists and best practices for pedagogy. Below is my final research paper for this course in which I looked at my own personal beliefs about education and best practice and supported those claims with research and evidence.
From my coursework outside of EdTech my favorite, by far, had to be the Creativity class with Dr. Waite. We looked across many disciplines and through the lens of creativity. Through theories and research and the application of these ideas. This paired wonderfully with the innovative work that we were doing in EdTech and helped for me to better understand and reflect upon my own philosophies. The paper below displays some of the deep thinking work done during this course.
