Klaus Schmidt has been a member of the board of the Center for Advanced Studies (CAS) at LMU since its foundation in 2008. CAS promotes transdisciplinary dialog at LMU and international exchange on new, pressing issues. It promotes research through CAS Schwerpunkte, CAS Research Groups, the Junior Researcher in Residence program and the invitation of international Visiting Fellows. Furthermore, it organizes lectures and seminars that are open to all members of the university and often to the public at large.
