Our final project for this course was to create an informative video on a current critical issue in educational technology. I chose the privatization of public schools. The reason why I wanted to research this topic and give some insight on it is because I am a product a both public and private school education. Therefore, I could analyze both sides of the discussion. Through my research, I found that privatization of public schools was a big deal in the government at that time.
To create my video, I used iMovie on my MacBook because I was already familiar with that software. One major challenge that I had was recording my voice at separate times which caused it to sound differently. I moved past that challenge by trying to go through speaking all my content at once and monitoring my voice level. I also used the trailer function to create my video intro. As an educational technologist, I believe that it is very important to stay abreast of current critical issues and to be able to analyze those issues. Creating this video allowed me to analyze the privatization of public schools and share the information that I found about it with others.
Educators continually improve their practice by learning from and with others and exploring proven and promising practices that leverage technology to improve student learning. Educators:
1a Set professional learning goals to explore and apply pedagogical approaches made possible by technology and reflect on their effectiveness.
1b Pursue professional interests by creating and actively participating in local and global learning networks.
1c Stay current with research that supports improved student learning outcomes, including findings from the learning sciences.
Educators design authentic, learner-driven activities and environments that recognize and accommodate learner variability. Educators:
5a Use technology to create, adapt and personalize learning experiences that foster independent learning and accommodate learner differences and needs.
5b Design authentic learning activities that align with content area standards and use digital tools and resources to maximize active, deep learning.
5c Explore and apply instructional design principles to create innovative digital learning environments that engage and support learning.
